Hotels in Trimbak

Trimbak is a small temple town in Maharashtra's Nashik district that exists almost entirely around one building: the Trimbakeshwar temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines sacred to Shiva, built in dark basalt in the eighteenth century. The Brahmagiri hills above town are revered as the source of the Godavari, and the Kushavarta tank is where pilgrims bathe, especially during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, which Trimbak shares with Nashik every twelve years.

Many visitors come to perform specific rituals such as Kaal Sarp and Narayan Nagbali pujas, which the town's priestly families are known for. Be honest: this is a pilgrimage town, not a leisure destination. Weekend and festival crowds mean long darshan queues, the streets near the temple are congested and full of puja touts, and accommodation is limited and fairly basic. The surrounding hills are green and dramatic in the monsoon, though the rain is heavy. Stay within walking distance of the temple so you can join the queue early, before day-trippers arrive from Nashik.
