Hotels in Urubamba

Urubamba sits in the heart of Peru's Sacred Valley, lower and warmer than Cusco, which makes it a sensible place to acclimatise before tackling Machu Picchu. The town itself is modest and workaday, with a small population and a plain central plaza, so nobody comes for Urubamba's own charms — they come for the surrounding valley, its Inca terracing, weaving villages and the Salineras salt pans nearby.

Travellers wanting nightlife or walkable restaurants will find it thin here; this is a place for gardens, quiet, and early starts. Stay at one of the resort properties just outside the town centre, where you get valley views and space to recover from altitude rather than a room overlooking traffic.
