Hotels in Weeze

Weeze is a small, flat farming municipality on the Lower Rhine near the Dutch border, and most visitors come because of its airport. Weeze (Niederrhein) Airport occupies the former RAF Laarbruch base and serves low-cost flights, long marketed with a "Düsseldorf" tag despite sitting well over an hour from that city. Each summer the same grounds host Parookaville, one of Germany's biggest electronic music festivals, when every bed for miles fills up.

Beyond that, be honest: the village itself is quiet, with little nightlife and not much to hold you for more than a night. The surroundings are more rewarding. Moyland Castle, a neo-Gothic moated pile, houses a major Joseph Beuys collection, and nearby Kevelaer's Marienbasilika anchors one of Germany's busiest Catholic pilgrimage sites. Cycling routes through the polder-like countryside are easy and pleasant. Stay by the airport if you have an early flight, or in the village centre if you want a café and a calmer base for exploring the region.
