Hotels near Al-Aqsa Mosque

Al-Aqsa Mosque sits inside Jerusalem's Old City, and since there's no hotel immediately at its gates, most visitors base themselves in one of two Palestinian towns nearby, both requiring a border crossing and onward travel into Jerusalem.

Bethlehem, about 9 km away, is the closer option and works well if you want to combine your Al-Aqsa visit with the Nativity Church and other Bethlehem sites. From here, it's a short taxi or bus ride to Jerusalem, followed by a walk into the Old City to reach the mosque. Hotels here range from the boutique and characterful, like Dar Sitti Aziza and The Walled Off Hotel, to Dar Al Mauge Boutique Hotel with its outdoor pool, and the more apartment-style Dar Ateeq's Arches/Bethlehem Apartment — good for longer stays or families.

Ramallah, roughly 15 km out, is a bit further but offers a livelier, more contemporary Palestinian city base, with shared taxis or buses running to Jerusalem before a walk into the Old City. Either town means factoring in checkpoint crossings and variable travel times, so build in extra time before prayers or peak visiting hours.
