About Birminghams Frankfurt Christmas Market 2026

The largest authentic German market outside Germany and Austria runs the length of New Street and fills Victoria Square, staffed by traders who come over from Frankfurt for the season. It opens earlier than almost anything on the continent, so it is the one that starts the British Christmas properly, and it is free to wander.

Expect bratwurst the length of your forearm, schnitzel rolls, gluhwein in souvenir boots and a carousel outside the Council House. New Street station is a two-minute walk, which makes it a genuine day trip from most of England, though a night in the city gets you the lights after dark when the market is at its best.
