The Caribbean Premier League was launched by Cricket West Indies in 2013, replacing the old Caribbean Twenty20 to give the region its own glamorous, floodlit franchise competition, and it has since become one of the liveliest events on the global T20 calendar — cricket wrapped in soca, steel pan and carnival colour.
