A weekend of practice, qualifying and race sessions built around the fastest bikes on the calendar. The Austrian round tends to draw a strong contingent of local and German-speaking fans, so expect a lively, engine-mad crowd rather than a quiet one. Practice on the opening day sets the tone, with teams chasing setup before the real business starts.

History
The Grand Prix of Austria is one of MotoGP's great modern comeback stories. Grand Prix bikes first raced in the Styrian hills decades ago, but the sport vanished from the calendar for years before returning in 2016 to a track transformed. The venue near Spielberg began life as the sweeping Osterreichring in 1969, was rebuilt as the tighter A1-Ring in the mid-1990s, then reopened under Red Bull ownership in 2011.
At just over 4.3 kilometres with only ten corners, it is one of the shortest laps of the year, yet its long straights, heavy braking zones and 65 metres of elevation change reward horsepower and bravery in equal measure, all set in a natural amphitheatre ringed by green hills that ranks among the most beautiful on the calendar.
The atmosphere is unmistakable too: tens of thousands camp on the hillsides and Red Bull's home race carries a festival energy few venues match. The 2026 running is scheduled for the weekend of 18 to 20 September at the Red Bull Ring.
