The 6 Hours of Fuji is a premier FIA World Endurance Championship race held at Fuji Speedway in Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture. Where you stay determines how close you are to the circuit and how much of race weekend you spend commuting rather than enjoying the event.

The 6 Hours of Fuji is the World Endurance Championship's Japanese round, and few venues in the sport can match its setting. Fuji Speedway opened in 1966 in the foothills of Shizuoka Prefecture, and on a clear autumn day the snow-capped cone of Mount Fuji rises directly behind the pit straight — one of the most photographed backdrops in all of motorsport.

The circuit is famous for that main straight, close to 1.5 kilometres long and among the fastest anywhere, feeding into a tight, technical sequence in the hills behind. It is owned by Toyota, and the marque's home advantage lends the weekend a special charge: the crowd's devotion to its Hypercar team gives the race a Le Mans-scale intensity that has run through every visit since endurance racing's world championship was revived in 2012.

Autumn brings crisp light and the first mountain colours, and the nearby onsen towns of Gotemba and Hakone turn a race trip into a proper Japanese escape, with Tokyo little more than ninety minutes away.
