About Denver Broncos

The Broncos joined the AFL as a charter member in 1960, the fan-chosen name evoking the wild, hard-to-tame horse of the American West. Denver reached the Super Bowl seven times, losing its first four before John Elway finally delivered back-to-back titles after the 1997 and 1998 seasons, closing out a long and much-loved career.

The Broncos won a third title after the 2015 season behind a dominant defense in Peyton Manning's final year at quarterback. Mile High Stadium's altitude has long been cited as a genuine home-field advantage against visiting teams unaccustomed to the thin air, and the Broncos' orange crush colours remain one of the most instantly recognisable identities in the league.

Denver Broncos records & quirks

  • In October 2025 Denver beat the Giants 33-32 after trailing by 18-plus points inside six minutes.
  • It was the first team since 1970 to overcome that deficit and win in regulation.
  • Denver's 33 fourth-quarter points that day were the most in a single quarter in team history.
  • QB Bo Nix became the first player ever to rush and pass for two touchdowns in one final quarter.
About Empower Field at Mile HighShow ▾

Home to the Denver Broncos, Empower Field at Mile High is a large open-air stadium a short drive west of downtown, known for its mountain views on clear days and the famously thin high-altitude air. The surrounding Auraria and Sun Valley districts are redeveloping, with LoDo and RiNo's bar scenes a short ride away.

Most fans arrive by car or rideshare as light rail does not serve the stadium directly. Booking a room downtown keeps Denver's vibrant craft beer and dining culture close on game day.
