British Flat racing's ultimate prize asks a single three-year-old colt to win three Classics at three distances across a whole season: the 2000 Guineas over a mile at Newmarket (1 May), the Derby over a mile and a half at Epsom (5 June) and the St Leger over roughly a mile and three-quarters at Doncaster (early September). No horse has completed the sweep since Nijinsky in 1970, which is what makes it one of the sport's rarest feats. Each Classic is a huge occasion in its own right — book hotels near each host town and follow the chase across the summer.
