Hotels in Bridgetown

Bridgetown is Barbados's compact capital, a UNESCO-listed colonial port whose Parliament and garrison district testify to 400 years of history, with the calm swimming water of Carlisle Bay right on its doorstep and rum shops treated as civic institutions.

Kensington Oval, the Caribbean's most famous cricket ground, is a short walk from the centre, and fills with a genuine carnival crowd when the Barbados Royals play Caribbean Premier League matches there. Few visitors actually sleep in Bridgetown itself; the sensible bases are the south coast strip at Hastings, Rockley and Worthing — buses and cheap taxis run straight in — or the pricier west coast. Book ahead for CPL fixtures and the winter high season.
