Hotels in Casamicciola Terme

Casamicciola Terme is one of Ischia's six towns, a spa resort on the island's north coast built around hot mineral springs that have drawn visitors since antiquity. In the nineteenth century it was a fashionable wellness retreat, and Henrik Ibsen spent time here while working on Peer Gynt. That era ended abruptly with the devastating 1883 earthquake, so complete a disaster that "Casamicciola" became Neapolitan slang for utter chaos.

Be honest: the town has had a rough recent run too, with an earthquake in 2017 and a deadly landslide off Monte Epomeo in 2022, and some upper districts still show the damage. What it offers now is a working, less polished alternative to glossier Ischia Porto and Forio, with thermal hotels, a small marina and direct ferry and hydrofoil links to Naples and Pozzuoli. Stay near the seafront and port for flat walking, easy ferry access and the most convenient base for exploring the rest of the island.
