Hotels in Kempton Park

Kempton Park exists in visitors' minds for one reason: OR Tambo International, Africa's busiest airport, sits inside its boundaries on Johannesburg's East Rand and handles the vast majority of the country's international arrivals. This is an airport base, not a tourist town, so expect business hotels, conference centres and airport shuttles clustered around Rhodesfield and Bonaero Park rather than sights to walk to.

The town itself dates to 1903 and spreads across dozens of ordinary residential suburbs with little built for visitors. Johannesburg's real draws, from Constitution Hill to Soweto, are a 40-minute drive west through frequent traffic. Stay near the airport terminals for the shortest transfer if you're overnighting between flights.
