Hotels in Portstewart

Portstewart is the gentler, more genteel neighbour of Portrush on Northern Ireland's Causeway Coast: a Victorian seaside town built around a curving harbour promenade, with Morelli's ice cream parlour as its long-standing social hub. Its real draw is Portstewart Strand, a long sweep of National Trust beach backed by tall dunes, where you can still drive and park on the sand.

Golfers know it for Portstewart Golf Club's dune-lined links, which hosted the Irish Open in 2017. This is a small town with a limited choice of hotels, the Atlantic weather can turn grey and wind-blown in any season, and outside summer weekends things get very quiet, with student traffic from nearby Coleraine as the main year-round buzz. Stay along the Promenade for sea views and easy walks to the cafés, harbour and coastal path out to the Strand.
