Hotels in Schneeberg

Schneeberg sits deep in the Erzgebirge, the Ore Mountains along the Czech border, and its history is mining history: silver was found here in 1471, and the wealth it brought built the oversized St. Wolfgang's Church that still dominates the small town skyline. Like much of the region, Schneeberg's mining heritage is now UNESCO-listed, and it's part of the wider Erzgebirge tradition of wood-carved nutcrackers, pyramids and Schwibbogen candle-arches, especially visible around Christmas markets.

Practical travellers mostly pass through en route to Erzgebirge hiking trails or nearby Schwarzenberg. Stay in the town centre near the church, since it puts you within walking distance of what little there is and keeps you off unlit rural roads after dark.
