Stoumont is a small rural municipality in the Ardennes hills of Wallonia, better known to military historians than to most tourists: it sits within the wider Battle of the Bulge theatre, and the village of La Gleize nearby holds the December '44 Historical Museum with its captured Tiger tank. Away from that history, the appeal is straightforward Ardennes countryside — wooded ridges, the Amblève valley, walking and cycling trails, and villages like Targnon and Rahier that see almost no foreign visitors.
