Hotels for Basel Christmas Market 2026

Basel's market is split across two squares. On Barfüsserplatz, stalls around the Barfüsserkirche sell tree decorations and gifts, with food stands and a chance to make your own candle. On Münsterplatz, in front of the Münster, a prominently decorated Christmas tree stands among stalls for goods, food and drink, and the Märliwald next door is aimed at children and families, with tin casting, candle making, gingerbread decorating, blacksmithing and a marionette theatre telling a Christmas story. A third food and drink area on Claraplatz offers everything from cheese dishes to meat products. It opens daily from 11:00 until 20:30.
