History
The Hundred, launched by the ECB in 2021, brings 100-ball cricket and simultaneous men's and women's matches to Headingley, the spiritual home of Yorkshire cricket in Leeds. A Test ground since 1899, Headingley has staged two of the most celebrated escapes in English cricket. In 1981 Ian Botham's 149 not out and Bob Willis's 8 for 43 completed an improbable win over Australia after England had followed on.
In 2019 Ben Stokes produced an unbeaten 135 to chase down 359 and keep the Ashes alive by a single wicket. Its steep, rowdy Western Terrace is one of the game's great party stands. Northern Superchargers carry the county's fierce support into The Hundred, and their women were crowned champions of the competition in 2025.
