Hotels in Aubière

Aubière is essentially Clermont-Ferrand's southern suburb, a commune of around eleven thousand people where the city's sprawl meets the edge of the Auvergne countryside. Its old village centre is a reminder of its past as a winegrowing community, with a cluster of vintners' cellars dug into the hillside, though the vineyards themselves have largely given way to housing. Much of modern Aubière is defined by the Cézeaux university and research campus, the motorway junctions on the A75, and the retail and business zones that line them.

Be honest: this is not a place you visit for its own sake. It is a practical, often cheaper base for business trips, university visits, or exploring Clermont and the volcanic Chaîne des Puys by car. Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne airport is a short drive away. Stay near the motorway and business areas if you're driving or here for work, but choose somewhere closer to the old village if you want a bakery and a café within walking distance.
