Hotels in Castillonnès

Castillonnès is a bastide town in the Lot-et-Garonne, one of the fortified market towns the English and French threw up across this part of Aquitaine in the thirteenth century, and it still keeps the arcaded square and grid-plan streets that mark the type. It's a place for driving through the Dordogne-adjacent countryside rather than a destination in itself: a Thursday market, some half-timbered houses, a war memorial, and not much else to fill a day.

Be honest: with a population under 1,600, there's little in the way of restaurants or nightlife, and most visitors are here for rural quiet, cycling routes or proximity to Bergerac and Monpazier rather than the town's own attractions. Stay right on or near the central square, where the arcades put you closest to the market and whatever little activity the town has.
