Hotels in East Orange

East Orange is a dense residential city in Essex County, New Jersey, better known as a commuter address than a destination in its own right — it's where people live and pass through rather than visit. Its main draw for travelers is proximity: Newark Liberty International Airport is a short drive away, and NJ Transit rail links put Manhattan, One World Trade Center and the Statue of Liberty ferries at Liberty Island within reach in under an hour.

Be honest: there's little here to hold a tourist's attention, few sit-down restaurants beyond the everyday, and the housing stock and streets reflect a city that's had a tougher economic run than its wealthier Essex County neighbors like Montclair. With only five hotels in our catalog, options are thin, so book early if dates matter. This works best as a budget, sleep-and-go base for flights or day trips into New York rather than a place to linger — stay near the train stations for the fastest, most reliable route into the city.
