Hotels in Putrajaya

Putrajaya was built from nothing as Malaysia's federal administrative capital, and its landmark is the Putra Mosque, built of rose-tinted granite beside the Prime Minister's office on the shore of a four-hundred-hectare artificial lake. The cable-stayed Seri Wawasan Bridge and the Millennium Monument, its glass ramp etched with dates from Malaysian history, make for a good evening stroll or a lake cruise after dark, when the buildings light up.

This is a government town rather than an organic city, and nightlife is close to nonexistent, with even licensed bars nearby having had to reinvent themselves as restaurants to survive. Putrajaya works best as a half-day detour from Kuala Lumpur rather than a stay in its own right. Stay at one of the lakeside hotels in Precinct 2 for the views and the evening walk along the boulevard.
