Staying in Wokingham
Wokingham is a prosperous Berkshire market town that has grown into one of the commuter hubs of the Thames Valley. It sits between Reading and Bracknell, with direct rail links to London Waterloo and easy access to the M4 tech corridor. The historic centre keeps a handful of timber-framed buildings, a Tudor-era market tradition and a compact high street that has been substantially redeveloped in recent years.
This is a pleasant, affluent place to live rather than a destination in its own right, and outside the centre it is largely suburban housing estates. Evenings are quiet and the hotel choice is limited. Windsor Great Park and the countryside towards Swallowfield and California Country Park offer easy green escapes. Stay near the town centre and station for walkable pubs, restaurants and straightforward train connections to Reading and London.
