Yaiza sits in the south of Lanzarote, right up against the Timanfaya National Park's blackened volcanic cones, and it trades on that lunar scenery more than any beach. The village itself is small and whitewashed, regularly voted among Spain's prettiest, though there isn't much to actually do once you've toured Timanfaya's craters and lava tubes. The real draw for most visitors is Playa Blanca, the resort strip within the municipality, which has proper sandy beaches, ferry links to Fuerteventura, and the bulk of the area's restaurants and nightlife.
Be honest: Yaiza village itself is quiet to the point of sleepy, and if you want beach life and buzz you need to be based nearer the coast, not the old town. It's a short drive from César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, so transfers are painless.
