Hotels in Bogotá

Bogotá sits at 2,640 metres on an Andean plateau, so it is spring-cool year-round and the altitude is real — take the first day gently. The colonial La Candelaria district holds the superb Gold Museum and Botero's donated collection, with the Monserrate cable car rising above it for the city-wide view.

Colombia's coffee culture is taken seriously here, and the food scene has quietly become one of South America's best. Candelaria is fine by day but quiet and edgy after dark, which shapes the where-to-stay answer. Stay in Chapinero or around the Zona G and Zona T for restaurants, safety and evening life, and visit the historic centre as a daytime excursion rather than sleeping in it.
