Hotels in Maumee

Maumee sits on the river of the same name just southwest of Toledo, Ohio, and its main claim to fame is history rather than nightlife: this is where the Battle of Fallen Timbers was fought in 1794, and the compact downtown still has a preserved, small-town Ohio feel with brick storefronts and antique shops. It's more a place people pass through or stop for a day of history and river-walking than a genuine vacation destination.

There isn't much to fill more than a day or two here, and most travelers use it as a quieter, cheaper alternative to staying in Toledo proper. Stay near the Anthony Wayne Trail or close to the river if you want easy access to downtown Maumee's shops and restaurants, since it's a short, uncomplicated drive into Toledo from there.
