Hotels in Suresnes

Suresnes is a residential western suburb of Paris, set on the hillside across the Seine from the Bois de Boulogne and just south of the La Défense business district. Its landmark is Mont Valérien, whose fortress holds the national memorial to the French Resistance, while the slopes below shelter the Suresnes American Cemetery and a small municipal vineyard that keeps alive the town's old winemaking tradition. Architecture buffs come for the interwar cité-jardin, one of the best-preserved garden-city housing estates around Paris.

Be honest: this is a quiet commuter town, not a destination, and evenings are sleepy. Getting into central Paris for the Eiffel Tower, the Champs-Élysées or Notre-Dame means a train or tram ride rather than a stroll, and Paris-Orly Airport sits on the far side of the city, so arrivals there face a long cross-town journey. With only a handful of hotels, choice is limited. Stay near Suresnes-Mont-Valérien station for direct trains to La Défense and Saint-Lazare.
