Hotels in Oltrarno, Florence

Oltrarno — 'beyond the Arno' — is the south-bank Florence that most tourists glimpse only when crossing to the Pitti Palace or Piazzale Michelangelo. Stay here and you find artisan workshops repairing furniture and picture frames, wine bars called bottegas that have barely changed in decades, the lanes around Santo Spirito busy with locals rather than selfie sticks, and the Boboli Gardens on the doorstep. It's a short walk over the Ponte Vecchio to the Duomo district. Quieter, more lived-in and generally better value than the north bank, it suits travellers who want to find neighbourhood-scale Florence.
