Hotels in Chamberí, Madrid

Refreshingly untouristed, Chamberí keeps a proud local identity around Plaza de Olavide, a circular café-ringed square where families gather, and the ghost station of Chamberí, a 1919 metro stop frozen in time and now a museum. Elegant early-1900s buildings line streets full of traditional tabernas. It suits repeat visitors and travellers wanting to live like a resident rather than tick sights. Well connected by metro, walkable to Malasaña and Salamanca, with fair prices and superb neighbourhood dining, though the marquee monuments sit a short ride south.
