Hotels in Malasaña, Madrid

Malasaña is the birthplace of Madrid's 1980s Movida counterculture and still the city's hippest district — vintage shops, record stores, third-wave coffee and a dense, alternative nightlife around Plaza del Dos de Mayo. Young, creative and central, it's a short walk to Gran Vía and the Royal Palace. It suits younger travellers who want energy, character and great cheap eats over quiet or polish. Nights run late and loud here; light sleepers should pick a calmer street. For the most happening, on-trend corner of central Madrid, Malasaña is the address.
