About Kansas City Chiefs v Arizona Cardinals
An NFL Sunday between two AFC and NFC opponents, with the home crowd known for its noise and tailgating tradition. Fans start filling the parking lots hours before kickoff, grilling and swapping predictions long before the gates open. Inside, the atmosphere builds fast once the teams take the field.
Where to stay nearby

Kansas City itself, a short drive further out, has by far the largest hotel selection and the most restaurants and bars for a pre- or post-game meal. Lee's Summit is a bit further afield with fewer hotels, but can work well if the closer towns are booked up. Wherever you stay, plan for an early start given the dawn kickoff, and expect road traffic to build well before the gates open.

About Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs began as the Dallas Texans, an AFL charter member from 1960, before owner Lamar Hunt moved the team to Kansas City in 1963 and renamed it in honour of Mayor Harold Roe Bartle, nicknamed 'Chief.' Kansas City won Super Bowl IV in the AFL's final season, then went half a century without another title until Patrick Mahomes arrived at quarterback.
Under coach Andy Reid, Mahomes has led the Chiefs to three further Super Bowl wins, after the 2019, 2022 and 2023 seasons, making Kansas City the closest thing the modern NFL has had to a dynasty. Arrowhead Stadium is regularly cited as the loudest venue in American sport.
Kansas City Chiefs records & quirks
- Arrowhead set the Guinness World Record for loudest stadium crowd roar, 142.2 decibels, on September 29, 2014.
- Fans had already set an earlier record there, 137.5 dB, in October 2013 against Oakland.
- Kansas City won that 2014 record-setting game over New England 41-14.
About GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium
Home to the Kansas City Chiefs, Arrowhead Stadium is one of the loudest open-air stadiums in the world, a sea of red set alongside Kauffman Stadium in the Truman Sports Complex east of the city. The surrounding area is highway-oriented rather than walkable, with Kansas City's celebrated barbecue district and the Power & Light entertainment zone a short drive away. Booking a room in downtown Kansas City keeps the lively scene close, with rideshare making the trip out to the complex on game day.
