Hotels in Ramsey

Ramsey is the Isle of Man's second town, a low-key harbour and market town on the island's north coast, well away from the casino lights of Douglas. It grew rich on Victorian seaside tourism and herring fishing, and that era survives in the promenade terraces, the Mooragh Park lake and boating lake, and the rusting hulk of Queen's Pier, once the longest cast-iron pier in the British Isles and now closed pending restoration.

Motorsport fans know it as a fixed point on the TT and Manx Grand Prix course, with the town busy and rowdy for race fortnight and near-silent the rest of the year. Dining and nightlife options are thin compared with Douglas, and this is a base for walking, sailing and the northern glens rather than for entertainment. With only seven hotels listed here, choice is limited, so book early for TT season. Stay near the harbour and promenade, close to the shops, the ferry connections to Douglas, and the sea views that are the town's real draw.
