Hotels near Blackhall Manor

Thick stone walls rise in a tall, plain block at Blackhall Manor, a Scottish tower house built to be lived in and defended at once. Tower houses of this kind stack their rooms one above another, with small windows set deep into the masonry and a steep roofline that gives the building its upright silhouette against the Renfrewshire sky. Blackhall Manor is a category B listed building, which marks it as a structure of special architectural and historic interest, and its surviving fabric rewards a slow look at how the stonework, openings and gables fit together. Plan to admire it from the outside, since public access to the interior is not confirmed. Glasgow Airport serves Renfrewshire, which helps if you are flying in to see the county's older buildings. Stay in Renfrewshire to make it part of a wider look at the county.
