Hotels in Souq Waqif, Doha

Souq Waqif is Doha's most atmospheric base — the restored traditional market of mud and plaster buildings where spice traders, falconers and hookah cafés operate in a genuinely functional souk rather than a museum reconstruction. The evening when the weather cools and the light drops gold across the lanes is the best time to be there; pearl-diving dhows are moored at the Corniche nearby. Everything feels usefully close: the Museum of Islamic Art is a 10-minute walk, the Corniche promenade begins at the edge. For a Doha stay that gives the older, more textured city rather than the gleaming West Bay towers, Souq Waqif is the obvious and correct choice.
