Hotels in Gosport

Gosport is Portsmouth's quieter twin, a peninsula town facing the city across the harbour mouth and bound up with the Royal Navy for centuries. Its naval past is its main draw: the Royal Navy Submarine Museum lets you climb inside a real submarine, the Explosion Museum covers naval firepower, and a ring of Victorian forts recalls when this shoreline guarded the fleet.

The town centre is tired, there's no railway station, and road access off the peninsula clogs badly at peak times, so the pleasure here is low-key rather than lively.
