Hotels in Kayseri

Kayseri is a working industrial city on the Anatolian plateau, built on furniture manufacturing and textiles rather than tourism, with Mount Erciyes looming on the skyline and doubling as one of Turkey's better ski areas in winter. The old town still has genuine draws — a solid Seljuk citadel, the Hunat Hatun mosque-madrasa complex, and a covered bazaar that predates most European shopping streets — but it's a stopover for most visitors, not a destination in itself.

The city sprawls, traffic is heavy, and much of what surrounds the historic core is modern apartment blocks and business hotels with little charm. What it does well is convenience: it's the natural base for exploring Cappadocia's rock churches and valleys, an hour or so east, and Erciyes' ski slopes in season. Stay near the citadel and bazaar if you want walkable sightseeing, or close to the airport if Kayseri is purely a transit point before Cappadocia.
