Hotels in Southsea, Portsmouth

Southsea is Portsmouth's seaside neighbourhood — a Victorian suburb of independent shops, the Blue Reef Aquarium on the seafront, Southsea Castle (Henry VIII's fort) and a pebble beach facing the Isle of Wight across the Solent, with hovercraft departures from the seafront. Better value than the Old Town and Gunwharf Quays, with its own character, community feel and some of the city's most liked independent restaurants and cafés. The weekend vintage and antiques market is excellent. For a Portsmouth base with genuine beach and seafront access at family-friendly prices, Southsea is the more relaxed and often better choice than the harbour area proper.
