Hotels in Bathwick, Bath

Bathwick is the quiet east bank of the Avon — a leafy Georgian neighbourhood of Regency terraces that most visitors walk straight past on their way to the Roman Baths. Sydney Gardens (one of only two surviving pleasure gardens in England) is here, and the Kennet and Avon Canal threads through it with towpath walks stretching miles east toward Bradford on Avon. Laura Place is at its western edge, at the end of Pulteney Bridge, and the Jane Austen Centre is across the river on Gay Street. For Bath without the tourist scrum, Bathwick lets you live inside the Georgian city rather than queuing for it — and the walk to the centre along the riverside is genuinely lovely.
