Hotels in Golden Mile, Leicester

The Golden Mile is Leicester's Belgrave Road — the stretch of Belgrave Road running north from the city where the city's substantial Gujarati community settled in the 1970s and built what is genuinely one of the best concentrations of Indian restaurants, sweet shops and jewellers in the UK. Diwali here is celebrated on a scale that draws visitors from across the country (the city claims the largest Diwali celebrations outside India). The food, from thali plates to chaat, is exceptional and very good value. A bus or short taxi from the city centre. For a Leicester stay with outstanding eating and genuine cultural experience, this is where to base the evening if not the hotel.
