Hotels near St Catherine's Church, Dublin

Grey granite columns line up along Thomas Street, and the classical front of St Catherine's Church rises flat and stern above the traffic of the Liberties. Above the facade a square stone tower makes a blunt, handsome shape against the sky over this western stretch of the old city. A church has stood on this site since the twelfth century, although the building a visitor sees today is a later classical rebuild in pale stone. Look up at the pediment and the Doric columns, then cross the street to take in the whole front at once. Thomas Street carries the church's stern classical front into the everyday life of the city around it. Stay near Dublin Heuston.
