Hotels in Jamaica

Jamaica is Queens's old commercial heart, settled under Dutch rule in 1656 and later home to the first stretch of the Long Island Rail Road, which opened from Brooklyn to Jamaica in 1834. King Manor Museum, the restored home of constitution signer Rufus King, sits in a park just off Jamaica Avenue, itself lined with civic buildings including the Queens Central Library.

Its real draw for visitors today is logistics rather than sights: it is the closest neighbourhood to JFK Airport, with the AirTrain linking Jamaica Station directly to the terminals in under twenty minutes. Be honest: it is a dense, workaday transit neighbourhood rather than a tourist destination, and most guests are here to catch a flight rather than to sightsee. Stay near Jamaica Station for the fastest AirTrain connection to JFK.
