Hotels in Schöneberg, Berlin

Schöneberg carries a rich queer heritage — the bars around Nollendorfplatz have been the centre of gay Berlin since the 1920s Isherwood years, marked by a memorial to persecuted homosexuals. By day it is comfortably bourgeois: the Winterfeldtplatz market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the delis of the Bavarian Quarter, and the KaDeWe department store on its western fringe. It suits relaxed travellers and LGBTQ visitors wanting village warmth with excellent eating. David Bowie once lived on Hauptstrasse. Central yet calm and residential, well linked by U-Bahn, with fair prices and quiet, leafy streets away from the main squares.
