Hotels in De Wallen, Amsterdam

De Wallen is the medieval heart of Amsterdam as much as its infamous red-lit windows — the oldest quarter, where the Oude Kerk of 1306 stands amid narrow alleys, the hidden Ons' Lieve Heer op Solder attic church, and Chinatown's restaurants along the Zeedijk. It suits night-owls and curious first-timers who want the action on their doorstep and do not mind crowds. Bars, coffeeshops and stag groups make evenings raucous and loud, so light sleepers should look elsewhere. Superbly central by Centraal Station and the metro, with plenty of budget beds, but choose your street carefully.
