Hotels in Oud-West, Amsterdam

Oud-West rewards travellers who prefer local life to tour groups, centred on the Foodhallen, a former tram depot now packed with indoor food stalls, and the buzzing Ten Katemarkt street market. Handsome brick terraces line the Kinkerstraat and Jan Pieter Heijestraat, dotted with independent coffee bars, vintage shops and neighbourhood restaurants. Bordering Vondelpark, it suits repeat visitors and families wanting authentic residential calm within cycling distance of everything. Well served by trams along the Overtoom, it offers better value than the canal belt, with a genuine lived-in feel and quiet, leafy evenings.
