Hotels in Kensington Market, Toronto

Kensington Market is Toronto at its least predictable — a Victorian market neighbourhood west of Chinatown where the stalls sell Jamaican patties, Portuguese baked goods and Brazilian street food from buildings painted every colour available, the vintage shops are genuine rather than curated and the weekend pedestrianisation turns it into a block party from June through October. No chains; no predictability; remarkably good and cheap food. The streetcar along Dundas connects to downtown in 10 minutes. For a Toronto base with actual neighbourhood character rather than condo-tower functionality, Kensington Market is where the city's claim to multiculturalism is less policy and more genuinely what you eat for breakfast.
