Hotels in Spitalfields, London

Spitalfields layers London's immigrant history street by street — the Georgian silk-weavers' houses (one preserved candlelit as Dennis Severs' House), the covered Victorian market, and Brick Lane running from curry houses to 24-hour bagel bakeries. The Ten Bells pub trades on its Jack the Ripper notoriety, and the glass towers of the City rise a block away. Spitalfields suits travellers who want history, markets and multicultural food, with Liverpool Street station across Bishopsgate for everywhere else. Sundays are peak market chaos in the best way; midweek mornings are quietly atmospheric among the old merchant streets.
