Hotels in Southbank, Melbourne

Southbank lines the Yarra's southern promenade, a district of glassy towers and riverfront dining. The Arts Centre spire, the National Gallery of Victoria's water-wall entrance, and the Crown complex anchor it, while the promenade fills with buskers and cafes. It suits travellers who want polished waterfront hotels, theatres and skyline views within a short stroll of the centre. Trams cross the river and the CBD is a walk over the footbridge. Sleeker and quieter than Fitzroy, it can feel corporate after dark, though the riverside stays pleasantly busy on warm evenings.
